Jean C. Strick, 49, a resident of Shorewood since 1997, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at her home.

She was born April 22, 1960, in Kaukauna, to Thomas and Joyce Strick.

Jean was a nursing graduate from Marian College in Fond du Lac in 1982. She worked as a clinical nurse in La Crosse for two years prior to working at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Hospital Burn Unit. She also worked in Appleton as a cardiology nurse, and in 1997, she moved to Milwaukee to work at many local hospital emergency rooms. In 2007, she began pursuing her teaching career by working towards her master's degree. She most recently taught at Bryant & Stratton College.

Jean enjoyed fishing, swimming, watching the Green Bay Packers and visiting with her family.

Jean was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Lee Strick in 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Morgan Strick of Shorewood; mother, Joyce Strick of Phelps; brothers, Thomas (Manda) Strick of Wausau, Michael (Jackie) Strick of Medford and Jeffrey (Angela) Strick of Mosinee; and nieces and nephews, Alissa, Ben, Luke, Dain and Lauryn.

Funeral services for Jean will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Phelps. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorials to the Strick family are appreciated.

Arrangements are by Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River.

I hung out with Jean for several years in high school and spent many sleepovers at her home. She had a great sense of humor and we had many good laughs together. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. As others have expressed here, it's certainly a reminder for all of us that life is short.

I am so sad to hear of her death. We had many classes together in high school and she was both smart and savvy. My prayers to all of her friends and family

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness felt when I heard of Jean's passing. May her memories give us strength. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was so surprised to get the message of Jean's passing. I know that she was really looking forward to coming to the reunion and for whatever reason it did not all work out. God bless her daughter and the rest of her family in this most difficult time. We do not know what any new day will bring our way and I agree with all the others... live your life without any regrets! Live your life to the fullest each and every day!

WOW! I knew the Strick family very well. My thoughts and prayers go out to them at this time. I always had fun with Jean. She was always up for having some fun or doing something interesting. She did worry that her father was the "Superintendent", but still hung out like the rest of us.
